Reef Life Survey is a non-profit citizen science program in which trained SCUBA divers undertake standardised underwater visual surveys of reef biodiversity on rocky and coral reefs around the world.

RLS was initiated by researchers at UTAS with seed funding provided by the Commonwealth Environment Research Facilities (CERF) Program, an Australian Government initiative supporting world class, public-good research.

IMAS at the University of Tasmania continues to provide extensive support to RLS, including the management of survey data produced by RLS volunteer divers.

The Integrated Marine Observing System (IMOS) supports the management & public access of the RLS database, as part of their National Reef Monitoring Network.

RLS receives generous assistance from Aquenal Pty Ltd who provide substantial vessel and equipment support for RLS field activities.
